I just got off the phone with an adult daughter who was asking about transportation services for her father, who is about to lost his license. She asked about taxi's or the local bus service, but with her father's dementia, I recommended a safer source of transportation - companions who can go with their clients either in their car or by driving the client's car.

GETTING AROUND
Transportation is crucial to ensure that seniors have access to
essential services such as medical care and grocery shopping. The
availability of adequate transportation enables older persons to live
independently in their communities, and helps to prevent isolation and the
possible need for long-term care placement. Many older people who do
not drive must rely on family and friends to provide much of their
transportation. But for others, it is necessary to find additional
resources to get around since this vital support service may be their
only connection to the outside world. Types of transportation that may
be available for the elderly are door-to-door service, fixed route with
scheduled services, or ridesharing with volunteer drivers.
Mobility is key to independence for everyone. COMFORT KEEPERS
